My name is Lana Tsivlin. I was born in Belarus. When I finished high school I went to study Ceramics, China Restoration and China Repairs in Moscov, Russia for four years. In 1974 I completed a degree as a Ceramist/China Painter at the Moscow-Abramtsevo Art College. This college was part of a highly successful ‘colony’ for famous artists and intellectuals, serving as a meeting and working place for a group of very famous Russian artists including Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov, Michail Vrubel and the Vasnetsovs brothers.
I was very fortunate to study at a college that played a significant role in the development of Russian culture in the nineteenth century. The Moscow-Abramtsevo Art College is still operating today.
After finishing college I worked as Art Designer at a ceramics factory in Yekaterinburg in central Russia. My work also included time as a stage designer at the local theatre and as a designer of wallpapers for homes and offices.
I arrived in Australia in 1981 and by utilising my knowledge, extensive experience, expertise and talent I started working from home and then I opened my China restoration business in Elsternwick in the late 1980s. One of my first clients was William Johnston, a very well respected antique collector and dealer. His family home was turned in to the National Trust Museum.
I have over 20 years experience in restoring treasured pieces for local and international clients, antique dealers, galleries and auction rooms. My work is unique in Melbourne and has been featured in newspapers, on radio and on television.
Please take a look at a program about me on ABC Collectors Show. This video is about what needs to be done to repair broken china that looks as though it has never been broken.
Lana’s China Restoration Expert Advice
Restoration
My number 1 reward is the look on my customers’ faces when they see their precious pieces restored.
I provide my customers with high quality restoration of their valuable pieces at reasonable prices. The value of your item does not impact on the price of my service and I repair to the same level of quality no matter if your piece is a family heirloom or a rare collectors’ piece.
I offer a range of china restoration options from invisible china repairs to more basic work: the level I work to is always directed by the client’s wishes. I can repair majolica, porcelain, pottery, plaster, ceramics, dolls etc. I also repair glass, due to the properties of this material, it is sometimes impossible to do invisible restoration. However, if your glass piece is broken, I can restore it and put the pieces back together, using a range of techniques to make joins less noticeable.
All of my work is completed in a fair period of time and I use high quality materials and time proven techniques.
If you have any questions about china restoration, china repairs, porcelain repairs, pottery repairs, ceramic repairs, dolls repairs or perhaps would like to find out if I can repair your pieces, send your questions or pictures via email and I will respond in no time.
Thank you for visiting my website, I look forward to restoring your precious pieces.
